Rumors of my death have been (only slightly) exaggerated.

For those of you who don't follow my Twitter and/or Facebook (that being all two of you), I've found an apartment. I'm moving out on April 1st (a month away from my original plan, but eh), so I still have lots of time to actually get my shit together, both literally and figuratively.

Also, it's in West St. Paul, which for those of you not local, is actually south-east of St. Paul. This fact amuses me to no end.

In the last week, I have gotten glasses and joined a D&D campaign with some of my coworkers.

These two facts are unrelated, I swear.

Done with college.

Or, at least, unless I decide to take any graduate-level courses. If I'm that crazy.

Which I might just be. Later. But not now.

Blah
I kinda figured that taking a job with such strange hours would be a hit to my social life. However, I also figured that, since my friends cared so much about me, they would try to work with what little time to socialize that I had, rather than making me feel awkward and having to call them up every time I want to do something, only to find whatever they're doing at the moment always seems to somehow manage to exclude me.

Hahaha, oh man. Pure hilarity.

Had my eyes examined today, and am going to be getting glasses two weeks from now. Not terribly looking forward to all the "holy shit, you have glasses!?" remarks from everyone I know, but I am certainly looking forward to, you know, actually being able to see things at a distance.

Also, I have decided that I will probably be moving out on March 1st. Nothing particularly significant about that day, it's just that a) it will hopefully be warm enough to be able to convince people to actually help me out with it, b) it's the first of the month, which is always a good time to be moving, c) it occurs on a Sunday, so people will actually have that day off, and d) I'll have saved enough money by then to act as a buffer.

Now I just need to, you know, find a place to live. Details, details.

So, I was looking up insurance quotes for my car (when did so much of my life start revolving around the acquiring of insurance policies?), since I'm going to need to be on my own plan soon, and they wanted to know what month and year I got into my accident, since it was less than five years ago. Now, believe it or not, I don't actually have a great memory of that time of my life (I'd still rather forget it), but I knew I had kept a record of that day in at least one place.

My old livejournal.

Which, of course, meant skimming through posts, looking for the post in which I mentioned my accident.

Which, of course, meant remembering precisely the type of person I was in 2004.

I was... mostly impressed. I was angsty, sure, but not unreasonably so, given I was a teenager and all that. Though, some things honestly surprised me, like how upset the beginning of the Iraq War made me. Now, if that happened today, I would be kinda, "... meh." That actually scares me somewhat, actually.

Oh well. Thus ends the longest LJ post I've made in, like, a year.

See you on Sunday, Internet.

After about a week of messing with it, I finally got XP on my Mac. It is such an abomination.

All it took was some googling (turns out, even though you can't see it, you have to keep pressing "any key" to start the Windows install), some time, and a chat with "Adrian" from India, I got it working.

Not actually gonna play with it yet, as I have other stuff to do. But later.

[EDIT: Windows has a very... interesting idea about what time it is. Fixed it now.]

... okay, my 2-year-old laptop isn't quite dead, but it it won't charge while it's on, and it's not the power supply, and it's not the battery (since it has a tendency to randomly shut down with the battery out). So, it's probably too expensive to be worth fixing.

Figures, a week after I decide it would be best to get a NEW desktop. Sigh.

In a way, though, it's my own damn fault. The problem actually started occurring when I first got my laptop, then mysteriously stopped. Should've investigated further.

Oh well.

EDIT: After weeks of deteriorating, my laptop seems to be GETTING BETTER. Like, it's currently taking a charge and powered on at the same time, though I'm worried that a slight breeze might throw it back out again. I mean, I wouldn't say it's perfect, but shit, there may be hope still.

Oh man, that was so silly, let me tell you.

It was single elimination, 4-player 3-stock matches, played in a friggin' theater. It was only three bucks, so I figured I'd try it out. Ended up getting eliminated in my first round, though I did make it to 2nd place. Methinks I may need more practice if I do this again.

Still, even watching it was damned fun. So much yelling and screaming. Like a geeky version of football fans.

So...

How 'bout that Livejournal strike I've been hearing so much about? (by which, I mean I've seen two people post about it)

Yes, this was just an excuse to post on a day I'm not supposed to post on. Not that I have any hard feelings against those who are striking... it just seems, well, silly.
